Send not to know for whom the bell tolls

On a day when poster boards were being put for the Festival another board appeared on the Meadows, but this one is different it is a memorial to the 35 cyclists who have died on Scotland’s roads over the last three years.

Out of date

Sadly while the memorial was still at Holyrood along with the Ghost Bikes, another cyclist died on a road in the Highlands and the memorial on the Meadows has had to be up dated to 36.

Up dated

So as you ride past remember:
Baseball cap

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend’s were.
Each man’s death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

  2. Sadly this memorial will have to be updated again, as another person lost their life this evening, bringing the total of cyclists killed on Scotland’s roads this year to ten. We need change!
